Mayor Hailey continues push for restoration of cable channels

Posted: Friday, January 2, 2009 8:54 pm

Hope springs eternal in spite of corporate clumsiness. Union City Mayor Terry Hailey said today there is a glimmer of hope that Charter Communications will restore the several TV channels it recently removed from its local program offering. Hailey said he contacted Anita Lamont, a Charter corporate official at St. Louis, Wednesday about that very subject. “She was one I talked to originally about this,” he said. “I called to ask her what, if any, progress has been made (in restoring the channels).” Ms. Lamont couldn’t tell him anything specific, Hailey said, but revealed there has been a lot of discussion about it and that Charter has received a lot of calls and is working on a solution. “She said they were working toward some kind of solution. I don’t know if that means putting the channels back or what,” Hailey said. “But she did tell me that after the holidays are over and things settle down, they would get together and find out what they could do. “I don’t want to give anyone the impression the channels will be put back, because we don’t know that yet.” Published in The Messenger 1.2.09
