Posted: Friday, March 2, 2012 11:58 am

The National Society Daughters of the American Colonist National President, Georgia, Carbaugh Holder, will attend the Tennessee State Society State Assembly Wednesday at the Double Tree Hotel in Jackson.
She is serving out the last year of Beverly Daugherty’s term due to Ms. Daugherty’s untimely death.
Ms. Holder is leading the group forward in plans and vision set forth by the former president.
Her project of restoration of furnishings at National Headquarters has moved forward.
It consisted of repairing, refinishing and/or replacing furnishings such as draperies, bedding, light fixtures and etc.
The Motto emphasis is “Future” for this third year and the Object emphasis is “Historic,” with emphasis on these two committees: American Indian Scholarship and National Defense.
Georgia Holder, Mrs. Gary Lyle Holder, joined DAC in 1966 and attended her first General Assembly in 1967.
On the National level she has served as: corresponding secretary, historian and treasurer. State positions served were: regent, recording secretary, correspondence secretary and chaplain.
In her chapter she served as regent, recording secretary and correspondence secretary.
While serving as Virginia state regent, she wrote the history of Virginia DAC as her project.
She is a member of the Stephens City United Methodist Church.
Ms. Holder graduated from the Medical College of Virginia with a bachelor of science in nursing. She has a national certification in operating room nursing. She is a member of the Shenandoah Valley Chapter of the Association of Operating Room Nurses.
She also wrote a book on How to Care For a Pregnant Teenager, which was published by the Richmond, Va., Heath Department.
Ms. Holder was married to Gary Lyle Holder in 1972 and the couple has two children — Chad, who lives and works in Richmond, and Wendy (a DAC golden acorn), who also lives and works in Richmond and does graphic work for DAC.
In 1995 she received the Judge Elliott D. Marshall award for outstanding community service.
For 20 years, she coordinated a carnival for children with cancer as part of a week-long event.
She now lives in Henrico, N.C., but retains her Virginia DAC membership.
Her hobbies include sewing and jet skis.
The TN State Society DAC said it truly looks forward to her visit.
