The Messenger. 03.27.08
By GLENDA H. CAUDLE
Architects Mark Conley (left) and Douglas Cardinal (center) discuss some possible refinements to their first model of Discovery Park of America’s signature museum/Grand Hall convention center with Robert Kirkland. Kirkland’s vision and desire to create a tourist attraction to stimulate the local economy, while also providing an educational and entertaining magnet for local residents and visitors from across the country, have fueled an outpouring of ideas from volunteer committee “vision”-ers who responded to Kirkland’s call for assistance in planning what would be included in the project. These ideas, in turn, have spurred the creative genius of Cardinal and his team of innovative architects. The result, as the community has seen over the past few months, is a complex totally unlike anything else in the area. The anticipated completion date for the exciting museum is the spring of 2010. A groundbreaking ceremony will be announced soon.
